Jörg Winkelmann (* 1963 in Niedernhausen ) is a German mathematician.

Winkelmann studied mathematics at the Ruhr University Bochum with a diploma in 1985 and a doctorate in 1987 (Classification of three-dimensional homogeneous complex manifolds). In 1995 he completed his habilitation in Bochum (Complex-Analytic geometry of complex parallelizable manifolds). In 2003 he became professor at the University of Nancy and in 2006 at the University of Bayreuth . He is a professor at the Ruhr University in Bochum.

He deals with complex analysis (several complex variables), associated differential geometry (classification of three-dimensional homogeneous complex manifolds), algebraic geometry, Lie groups and algebraic groups and applications of the Nevanlinna theory , which has been transferred to several complex dimensions, in number theory (its importance in number theory since the alternative evidence of the presumption of murder by Paul Vojta is known).

In 1988 he received the Benedetto Sciarra Prize.
