Jewish cemeteries (Raesfeld)

The Raesfeld Jewish cemeteries are located in the Raesfeld community in the Borken district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

Old graveyard

The cemetery, which no longer exists today, was located south of the castle on the Fuhrweg to the count's sheepfold at the zoo.

From 1721 to 1860 it was used as a burial place for the Jewish community . The cemetery grounds were sold shortly before the First World War .

New cemetery

From 1860 the Jewish community buried its dead in the cemetery at Am Pölleken . It is 1840 m² and is located about one kilometer east of the village in the direction of Heiden.

The remaining eleven tombstones are partly bilingual with German and Hebrew inscriptions. The last burial took place in 1942.
