Bypass road through the former cemetery grounds

The Jewish cemetery in Międzyrzecz (German Meseritz ), a Polish town in the Lebus voivodeship , is said to have been laid out on the so-called Judenberg , on the road to Skwierzyna ( Schwerin / Warthe ) as early as the middle of the 14th century .

The approximately 3 hectare Jewish cemetery was leveled in the early 1970s and then used as a gravel pit . 20 years later a bypass road was built through the site. Seven tombstones from the former cemetery are still preserved, which are kept in the regional museum. Fragments of tombstones and fences can still be found on the cemetery grounds.

A further Jewish cemetery is located east of the city in Obrzyce ( Obrawalde ) on the site of a former mental hospital.
