Jewish Museum and Center for Tolerance in Moscow

The Jewish Museum and Center for Tolerance ( Russian Еврейский музей и центр толерантности ) is a Jewish museum in the Russian capital Moscow . It opened on November 10, 2012. It is located in the former Bakhmetevsky bus depot, a constructivist building designed by the architect Konstantin Melnikow in 1926.

On January 29, 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met there to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi extermination camp Auschwitz by the Red Army. The Red Army officer Alexander Aronowitsch Pechjorski was honored, who organized and led an uprising and breakout from it. On January 30, 2018, the exhibition "Sobibor: Victorious over Death" was officially opened there in the presence of the two aforementioned heads of state.
