Jürgen Artur Heimchen (born August 25, 1942 in Wuppertal ) is a retired German civil servant who volunteers for accepting drug work .

Life

Heimchen, a railway official by profession, campaigned for a liberal drug policy in North Rhine-Westphalia for decades . The trigger was the drug death of his 21-year-old son on June 21, 1992, the day that is now also known as the “National Day of Remembrance for Deceased Drug Addicts” and whose introduction in 1998 is due to Jürgen Heimchen's commitment. reasoned. Heimchen conducted seminars on the topic and also became chairman of the "Federal Association of Parents and Relatives for Accepting Drug Work". He is also the moderator of the nationwide parents' meeting of Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe e. V. and member of the Drugs Advisory Board there. Thanks to the action of Heimchen, the establishment of the nationwide first drug consumption room in the former station reception building in Elberfeld in Wuppertal in 2001.
