Jüttbaum
A Jüttbaum (also Jütbaum or Jütt ) is a lever that is used to raise or lower a foldable ship's mast . With the help of a jib boom you can put masts very quickly, for example to cross bridges.
functionality
The jib boom is attached to the base of the mast. Then you connect the top of the mast to the Jüttbaum with a rope. Now you can pull the Jüttbaum or give in the rope so that the mast is raised or lowered. Since the leverage is considerable, masts up to a certain length can only be laid with the help of a jib tree. Jütt trees are not suitable for larger masts.
