history
The company Jacob Elektronik GbR was founded in 1990 in the Durlach district of Karlsruhe by Thomas Jacob as an IT specialist retailer with a regional focus. The opening of the first shop with less than 20 m² of sales area in an old butcher shop in 1992 was followed by the opening of the Jacob online shop in 2000 under the domain www.jacob-elektronik.de.
In 2005 the company headquarters and the shop were relocated to Karlsruhe-Killisfeld and enlarged to approx. 450 m². In 2008 the legal form was converted into a GmbH , Thomas Jacob remained the sole shareholder.
In 2010 the company doubled the retail space to 900 m². In 2012, another move began during ongoing operations to the current address in Karlsruhe-Hagsfeld, which was successfully completed in 2014. There are now approx. 1800 m² of operating space available. The establishment of a corporate customer sales organization in 2010 expanded the business area to include commercial customers and brought further growth.
Current development
In the middle of 2017, the warehouse and logistics were relocated in order to keep up with the steadily increasing requirements and to ensure consistent growth. So the storage area could be enlarged to over 1000 m².
Furthermore, sales branches were opened in Stuttgart-Leonberg in 2017 and in Saarbrücken, Cologne and Frankfurt am Main in 2018. A co-working space is also available in Hamburg.
In 2019, further branches were opened in Leipzig and Hamburg.
