Jacobabad ( Sindhi : جیکب آباد) is a city in the Pakistani province of Sindh , originally Khangarh , then in 1847 by the officer, engineer and official of the British East India Company John Jacob (1812-1858) newly laid out. It is located in the district of the same name in the north of the province. The city has a population of around 164,000.
