Building history

overall view

The simple village church was built in several stages from 1652 to 1672 (inauguration on August 4, 1672) with financial support from the local Wangenheim patronage family and has a roof turret on the west side. Some of the donor family's gravestones are worth seeing. B. that of Hans Bernhard von Wangenheim, who died in 1705, son of the chief forest master Hans Ludwig von Wangenheim. It is a hall church with a wooden barrel vault .

Inside there is a double gallery and a valuable organ from the 19th century. This comes from the workshop of Johann Valentin Knauf from the neighboring town of Großtabarz . In the 19th century, a lightning strike set the roof turret on fire and had to be replaced. After 1990 a massive sponge infestation was discovered in the framework, which made costly restoration necessary.
