Location of Fischbach in Waltershausen
|
Fischbach is a district of the town of Waltershausen in the Gotha district in Thuringia .
geography
Fischbach is located on the northern slope of the Thuringian Forest at an altitude of about 380 meters at the foot of the Großer Inselberg .
history
The location of Fischbach was first mentioned in a document in 1103 by the second abbot of Reinhardsbrunn monastery . A place at this point has been documented since the early 15th century. The place was owned by the Lords of Wangenheim , who built a castle there and had their seat there until 1780. In addition to forestry and linen weaving, haulage in particular had great economic importance in the area in earlier times. In addition, copper slate was mined in the Klauenbergswiesen. Weaving and carting experienced a decline at the beginning of the 19th century, after which the inhabitants found their livelihood in hemp processing (syringe hoses, fire buckets, belts) as well as in basket and sieve-making or as broom-makers and turners (mostly for pipe production in Ruhla). Around 1900, a Klenganstalt was also established for the extraction of forest seeds. After 1945 the place developed into a popular holiday destination, to which the construction of the mountain stage in 1952 made a decisive contribution, which offers space for 2000 spectators and among other things. a. is played by the State Theater Eisenach . In 1996, through a merger with three surrounding communities, Fischbach became part of the unified community Emsetal and the seat of the community administration. This was incorporated into the city of Waltershausen on December 31, 2013.
Attractions
- The Wangenheimsche Castle in the village square was in 1587 under Christoph von Wangenheim begun and completed in 1639 by his son, the Duke's Oberforst- and Jägermeister Hans Ludwig von Wangenheim and inhabited. The front door, several room doors and the stucco ceilings in the hall-like rooms, which are now partly divided into several rooms, testify to artistic taste. In 1780 it was sold to local Fischbachers and has been owned by the local government since 1973. From 1992 to September 10, 2014, the stately half-timbered building housed the headquarters of the municipal administration of the Emsetal community. In the years 1993 to 1998 large-scale construction and reconstruction measures were carried out.
