Jacopo Torriti
Jacopo Torriti was a Roman painter and mosaic artist and a member of the Franciscan order in the late 13th century. His main works are several mosaics in two Roman papal basilicas (Basilicae maiores) , the Lateran basilica and the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore , and probably also in the upper church of the Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi , another basilica maior . Torriti was active between 1270 and the beginning of the 14th century and was probably born in Torrita di Siena .
