Hunting trip
A hunting trip is an activity of one or more people who travel to other locations outside their usual environment for at least two days, but no more than one year without interruption, in order to primarily seek out, hunt, catch, kill and acquire game to concentrate.
How a hunting trip works
Hunting trips can be organized in two different ways. A hunter can either book such a trip directly in the target area, with the hunting tour operator, or get help from a specialized travel agent to organize his trip. 50 percent of trips are booked through travel agents, while the other half are arranged through private contacts or direct bookings. Agents act as service providers here. They acquire customers for the tour operator on domestic markets and organize the trip for the hunter. For hunting tour operators, due to the spatial and linguistic barriers, it is often more difficult to establish and maintain customer contact than for local companies.
Effects of hunting trips
If a hunting trip is organized sustainably, one can definitely say that this has a positive effect on the local population and the wild population. Such a hunting trip balances the human-wildlife conflict . Sustainable hunting trips must meet certain criteria for these positive effects to take place. An example of this effect is the Markhor goat , which is no longer on the red list due to regulated foreign hunting .
Current problems with foreign hunting
In order for overseas hunting to help conserve wildlife effectively, the industry must address several issues:
- The breeding animal problem
- The gate hunt
- The image problem
- The transparency problem
- The information problem
