The Jahn memorial in the center of the Wuppertal district of Vohwinkel is a stone in memory of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn , also known as Jahn , the gymnastics father. The vertical stone is located in a small city park (station garden) at support number 8 of the Wuppertal suspension railway near its terminus. The memorial was inaugurated by the then Vohwinkeler Turnverein on May 28, 1905. It shows (from top to bottom) a portrait of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, four times the letter "F" as a gymnast's cross for the motto " Frisch Fromm Fröhlich Frei ", a stone slab with the inscription (see below) and since 1925 an iron plate at the bottom in memory of the fallen of the First World War , which the monument expands in its significance beyond gymnastics.
