Jaime Trobo

Jaime Mario Trobo (* 1956 in Canelones - July 24, 2019) was a Uruguayan politician .

Trobo was married and had three children. He belonged to the Partido Nacional . Trobo was elected representative ( Edil ) in the Junta Departamental of Montevideo between 1985 and 1990 . He also held the vice-presidency of the Congreso Nacional de Ediles and was a member of its permanent presidium. He was elected to the Cámara de Representantes in 1989 as a member of the Department of Montevideo and has been a member of the Cámara de Representantes since February 15, 1990, from the beginning of the 43rd legislative period. In the first year of his membership in parliament, he was deputy head of the finance committee. From 1992 to 1994 he was chairman of the budget committee, 1991 and 1995 its vice-chairman. In 1996 he headed the Social Security Commission. In 1998 he took over the role of President of the Chamber. From July 2000 to November 2002 he was Minister for Sport and Youth in the Jorge Batlles government . From 2008 to 2009 he headed the Commission for International Affairs. He was also a member of the Commission for Human Rights of the Latin American Parliament ("Parlamento Latinoamericano").
