Jake Brown (born September 6, 1974 ) is an Australian professional skateboarder .

Life

After his parents divorced, Brown grew up with his mother. He started skating in his early teens , having previously played soccer . In 1996 he first competed in a professional competition, the Slam City Jam , and in 1997 he moved to California , where he has lived ever since. Brown is married. He took part in the X Games for Australia . He finished second in the Big Air skateboard competition in Los Angeles in 2006 and 2007, came third in 2008 and won the gold medal in 2009.

Mega ramp fall

On August 2, 2007, Brown had a spectacular crash during the Summer X Games . After being the first in a competition to successfully land a 720 from a mega ramp, he lost control on the next jump. His board flew away and Brown fell about 15 meters (45 feet) to the bottom of the quarter pipe . He lay on the ground for a few minutes, but was then able to walk on his own. Various injuries were found in the hospital, none of which required major surgery, so Brown was discharged after three days under observation.
