Jakob Speigl

Jakob Speigl (born February 22, 1933 in Engelsdorf ) is a German Catholic church historian.

Jakob Speigl was ordained a priest in Rome in 1958 . From 1972 to 2001 Speigl was professor of ancient church history as well as Christian archeology and patrology at the University of Würzburg . Since 1998 he has also been Scientific Director of the Eastern Church Institute of the Bavarian-German Augustinian Province at the University of Würzburg.
