Jakonett ribbon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jakonett tape is a tape made from Jakonett , a fine, smooth cotton fabric that is used to tie in and secure windings on coils and transformers and in electric motors .

Jakonett tape is an inelastic cotton tape with woven or crocheted edges, which is usually offered almost white with a colored thread in the middle. When heated to approx. 160 ° C, it shrinks by approx. 5% once. Commercially available Jakonett tapes are approx. 0.2 mm thick and are offered in widths from 10 to 50 mm. Often, Jakonett tape is smoothed by roll calenders .

In contrast to adhesive tapes, Jakonett tape is knotted and is therefore not dependent on the durability of adhesives. It stabilizes the winding through the heat shrinkage. In addition, it soaks up after processing when using insulating materials such as impregnating resins or insulating oils.
