Jakub Dovalil (born February 8, 1974 in Prague , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech football player and today's coach .

Player career

Jakub Dovalil played for Slavia Prague in his youth and was accepted into the B team in 1993 at the age of 19, which played in the ČFL , the third highest Czech league. With no prospect of making the leap into the senior team, Dovalil moved a league lower to Kaučuk Kralupy nad Vltavou in 1994. In 1995 he played for Motorlet Prague , but also worked for Motorlet as a youth coach. In 1996 Dovalil went to Cologne to study at the German Sport University Cologne . He also played for SSG Bergisch Gladbach in the Oberliga Nordrhein . After his return to the Czech Republic, Dovalil let his playing career with TJ Tatran Sedlčany, a lower class club from Sedlčany end.

Coaching career

After his first coaching position with the F-Juniors of Motorlet Prague, Dovalil went to his former club Slavia Prague in 1997 and looked after various junior teams there until 2002. He then coached the Czech U-16 team in the 2002/03 season, which he also looked after the following year - now as a U-17. In 2004 Dovalil switched back to the younger age groups and from 2004/05 trained the 16-year-old juniors, i.e. the age groups 1988 and 1989.

Dovalil stayed with this team for several years and celebrated several successes: The Czech U-17 team won the silver medal at the European Championship in Luxembourg in 2006, and in 2006 Dovalil won the bronze medal at the European Championship as an assistant in the U-19 team in Poland. From 2007 to 2008 Dovalil coached the Czech U-18 team before taking over the U-20 team in 2009 and then the U-21 national team , with which he won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Denmark in June 2011 . The qualifying game for the 2012 Olympic football tournament against Belarus was lost 1-0.
