Jamaica Papa Curvin
Jamaica Papa Curvin , actually Curvin Merchant (* 1943 in Harewood , Jamaica ) is a Jamaican reggae musician . He is especially known in Germany and is often on tour. Papa Curvin is known as "Germany's Grandfather of Roots Rock Reggae" because he played reggae music in Germany as early as the 1970s and in 1975 founded the Reggae Center in Hamburg. He used to travel as a ship musician and ended up in Hamburg. In 2005 he won a prize at the first Reggaegrammy in Hamburg. In old television recordings he often appeared as drummer of the band Boney M. in appearance. He built a studio here and released a number of albums. He also invented the X Mas Reggae Show, which will take place for the 33rd time in a row in 2018 and on which he performed regularly on Christmas Eve with other artists until 2012.
