James Dawkins (politician, 1760)

James Dawkins (* 1760 ; † 1843 ) was a British MP.

James Dawkins was the son of Henry Dawkins , an English country gentleman and wealthy owner of plantations in Jamaica , and studied from 1779 at Christ Church College , Oxford . He was the successor to his father from 1784 to 1812 MP in the British House of Commons for the constituency of Chippenham . From 1812 to 1826 he was an MP for the constituency of Hastings , from 1831 to 1832 for the constituency of Wilton . His brothers George Hay Dawkins Pennant and Henry Dawkins were also members of the House of Commons, as was his uncle James Dawkins .
