James O'Keeffe

James Joseph O'Keeffe ( 1912 - May 1986 ) was an Irish politician and sat from 1956 to 1961 in the Seanad Éireann , the upper house of the Irish Parliament , and from 1961 to 1965 in the lower house, the Dáil Éireann .

O'Keeffe was elected to the 8th Seanad Éireann in a by-election on May 14, 1956 for the Fine Gael . In 1957 he was re-elected. In October 1961 he resigned his mandate there in order to belong to the 17th Dáil Éireann, into which he had recently been elected. In the 1965 elections for the 18th Dáil, O'Keeffe was unable to defend his seat.

O'Keeffe was also a member of the City Council of Dublin and held from June 1962 to June 1963 and again from June 1974 to June 1975 the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin .
