Jan Charytański

Jan Charytański SJ (born June 23, 1922 in Warsaw ; † August 4, 2009 ibid) was a Polish Jesuit. He was considered a capacity of the catechism in the 20th century.

Life

Jan Charytański entered the Jesuit community on July 14, 1939 . He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1952 and made his last monastic vows on August 15, 1956. He studied religious studies at the Catholic University of Lublin , theology at the Jesuit University Bobolanum in Warsaw and experimental pedagogy at the Catholic University of Leuven . In 1966 he received his doctorate in theology and in 1972 he completed his habilitation. In 1977 he became assistant professor in 1983 and full professor of theology and catechism at Bobolanum appointed .

He was a long-time member of the Polish Episcopal Commission for the Catechism and the Commission for Catholic Education. He was internationally committed, especially for the German Catechist Association in Germany.

Charytański has left an extensive written work, including more than 150 scientific publications on the subject of catechesis .
