Jan Logie

Jan Logie (born October 26, 1969 in Invercargill ) is a New Zealand politician of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand .

Life

Logie studied political science at the University of Otago . As part of the JET program , she worked as a language teacher in Japan. Logie has been a Member of the New Zealand House of Representatives since November 30, 2011 . Since then she has been Under Secretary of State in the New Zealand Department of Justice under Justice Minister Andrew Little .

Logie publicly came out as homosexual in her first parliamentary speech in the House of Representatives in 2011. In the House of Representatives, she is particularly committed to the rights of LGBTI people.
