Jan Malíř (born August 17, 1948 in Prague , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech cameraman .

biography

Jan Malíř is the son of the philologist and author Františka Malíř (1919–2008). He graduated from the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague in 1972 . He then worked at Krátkém filmu Praha from 1972 to 1987 , where he worked with documentary filmmakers such as Petr Ruttner , Václav Hapl , Svatopluk Beneš , Petr Skala , Helena Třeštíková and Rudolf Granec .

From 1985 to 2000 Malíř taught at the FAMU. He is married to the German director Ursula König (* 1960).
