career

In 1982 she passed her high school diploma in Prague and then studied at the Prague University of Economics , as well as postgraduate economics , marketing , management and languages.

In 1989 she became an editor at the Czech public television , from 1993 she was responsible for the stock market page of the business newspaper Hospodářské noviny . In the years that followed, she continued to work as a business editor for newspapers and television, until in January 2000 she became an advisor to the chairperson of the Assembly of Representatives. There she organized company meetings and advised local political bodies and international companies. In 2001 she became director of the news programs at ČT, but had to leave this post due to extensive protests by employees and the public against politicization of the station. From 2001 to 2004 she was the presenter of the political talk show Sedmička on TV Nova .

In July 2004 she was elected to the EU Parliament for the political movement of the Independents ( Nezávislí ), but left it soon after to work as a non-attached parliamentarian. From 2006 she became involved in the splinter party "politika 21", of which she became chairman.

In February 2008 she was unexpectedly nominated by the Communists as a presidential candidate, but then withdrew her candidacy before the ballot on February 15.

In the 2009 European elections , Jana Bobosiková stood for the new Suverenita (sovereignty) party that she had initiated as a successor to "politika 21", which rejected the Lisbon Reform Treaty. With 4.26% of the vote, however, it just missed re-entry into the EU Parliament. If all three "EU-critical" parties had joined forces, they would have returned to parliament with 6.46%.

Bobosíková was also the top candidate for Suverenita in the 2010 parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic . With 3.67%, it again failed to make it into the Chamber of Deputies. In doing so, however, it has already taken a noticeable amount of votes from other parties.
