Jane Jimmy Chigiyal

Jane Jimmy Chigiyal (born April 3, 1967 in the Federated States of Micronesia ) is a Micronesian diplomat .

Life

Chigiyal served as a longtime member of the Micronesia Foreign Ministry.

On October 4, 2011, Chigiyal was confirmed as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in a 13-1 vote at the 17th session of the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia . With her confirmation, Chigiyal became the first female ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia in history. Before her confirmation as Permanent Representative of Micronesia to the United Nations, she held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On December 2, 2011, she presented her credentials to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon .
