Jantar shipyard (2008)

The shipyard Jantar ( Russian АО Прибалтийский судостроительный завод "Янтарь" translated "Baltic Shipyard Bernstein" or detail "At the Ostsse [situated] shipbuilding operation" Amber "") located to the west of the port area on the south bank of the river Pregel in Kaliningrad , Russia .

The company emerged in 1945 from the Königsberg branch of the Schichau works located in Elbing (1919-1939 East Prussia ) , which in turn emerged from the Union foundry, locomotive factory & shipyard in Königsberg, which was independent until 1931 and which in addition to ships also or primarily manufactured locomotives would have. During the Soviet era, the shipyard also operated under the name Shipyard No. 820 .
