Japanese Mozart Society

The Japanese Mozart Society ( Japanese 日本 モ ー ツ ァ ル ト 協会 , Nihon Mōtsaruto Kyōkai , English Japan Mozart Society ) is a non-profit organization founded on January 27, 1955 for the care of the work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , based in the Shibuya district in the Tokyo prefecture . The current chairman has been the composer Shigeaki Saegusa (* 1942) since 2010 . The goals of the society are decided by the democratic election of the voting members at the general assembly.

The Japanese Mozart Society has the task of promoting the legacy of Mozart's work both practically and scientifically through concerts, lectures and international exchange. Any interested individual from the age of 10 can become a full member. The membership numbers are preceded by the letter K based on the Köchel directory ; from the 626th member, the letter T.
