from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jarl Ricardo Babot (* 1946 in Panama City ) is a Panamanian poet and dramaturge . For his 1979 work Las Aves ("The Birds") he was awarded the Panamanian literary prize Premio Ricardo Miró in 1980.

After studying at the University of Panama, he graduated in 1973 in Moscow at the State Institute for Theater Arts in theater directing. His work, which is often marked by existentialism and melancholy, is partly still strongly influenced by the Panamanian literary movement of the Acción Comunal , the "community action" of the 1930s, which was often marked by revolutionary ideas.

Babot was director of the Laberinto theater group at the Faculty of Humanities and director of the Escuela Nacional de Teatro Universitario and the Department of Artistic Expression at the University of Panama.
