Jason Mark Kerrison , MNZM (* in Invercargill ) is a New Zealand singer who became known as the head of the band OpShop .

biography

Kerrison was born in Invercargill in southern New Zealand and raised in Christchurch . At the Catholic Boy's School in St Bede's he met Tim Skedden and Matt Treacy, with whom he later formed the band Vivid . He then tried his luck solo as a bar musician in Auckland , before reuniting with his two former schoolmates and two other companions. This is how the band OpShop came into being around 2002 . Kerrison is the lead singer and songwriter for the rock band.

After the release of the third OpShop album, Kerrison worked as a guest singer on the single Walking Away from rapper K.One , who had his first own chart hit . The song peaked at number 38 in New Zealand. Shortly thereafter, he supported radio presenter Mike Puru in a competition to see who would publish the most successful Christmas single of the three morning presenters from Radio The Edge . With Puru he recorded the Christmas single Nothing More for Xmas , which he wrote. The single made it to number 13 in the charts, but the other two presenters were better. The proceeds were donated to a charity.

Jason Kerrison aroused skeptical reactions in late 2009 when he reported in an interview with Woman's Day magazine that he was building an ark and stocking up on supplies on December 21, 2012 because of impending upheavals he had read about. This led to numerous derisive comments from the public.
