Javad Khan Ziyad oghlu Qajar († January 1804) was a member of the imperial tribe of the Qajars , Great Khan of the Ganja Khanate .

During the Russo-Persian War (1804–1813) , Javad Khan was the only khan of the khanates of northwestern Persia to oppose the Russian tsar. Javad Khan took to the field against him several times. In January 1804, after heavy fighting in his fortress, Javad Khan was executed by heads along with his sons.

Regency

During the reign of Khan Javad from 1785, the economic and political importance of the Khanate grew. It soon had its own foreign policy, sometimes coordinated with the Persian one. The Khan operated his own mint in Gəncə.

Fatherland hero

In Azerbaijan , Javad Khan is seen as a folk hero.

Movies

There was a film about Javad Khan during the Soviet era and in 2008 a film was made called Cavad Xan.
