Jbel el Alam (also Jabal La'lam ) is a 1200  m high mountain in the Rif Mountains and a place of pilgrimage of the same name in the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region in the north of Morocco .

location

The mountain and village are located in the western center of the Rif Mountains, about halfway between the port town of Larache and the mountain town of Chefchaouen . The next largest city is Za'roura .

Pilgrimage (moussem)

The Sufi ʿAbd as-Salām ibn Maschīsch has been buried in Jbel el Alam since 1227/8. Every year at the beginning of July, on the initiative of the Sufi school of Tariqa Machichia Chadilia , an important pilgrimage ( moussem ) takes place in honor of the man who is venerated as holy and miraculous , during which around 200,000 people dressed in white or light blue come to the small town pray and discuss.
