ʿAbd as-Salām ibn Maschīsch ( Arabic عبد السلام بن مشيش العلمي, DMG ʿAbd as-Salām b. Mašīš al-ʿAlamī ; * 1140 in Beni Aross near Tangier ; † 1227 in Jebel el Alam , too) Ben Mshish called, was a Sufi - Marabout , who during the reign of the Almohad in the western Rif lived. His dome tomb ( qubba ) is in Jbel el Alam.

At the beginning of July, his followers, the Shorfa Alamiyyin , celebrate the annual pilgrimage ( moussem ) for Abdeslam ibn Mchich, whose religious lineage ( silsila ) goes back through the Idrisids to Mohammed and who is also known as the "Sultan of Jbala and protector of the valley". Abdeslam converted Abu al-Hasan al-Shadhili to Sufism. His teacher was Abū Madyan (1126–1197 / 98), the patron saint of Tlemcen . Abdeslam was an ancestor of Sherif Molla Ali Ben Moussa Ben Rached El Alami, the founder of Chefchaouen .

He wrote a collection of reflections on the political and religious life of his time and the Taslya , a hagiography ( laudation ) on Mohammed, on which Ahmad ibn Ajiba wrote a comment. He also created As-Salatul-Mashishiyyah , a metaphysical paraphrase of a well-known prayer in which the believer calls on God to bless the Prophet and to thank him that Islam has reached him through him. Abdeslam understood the Prophet Mohammed as the expression of the one spirit to which everything relates and which is a permanent mediator between the incomprehensible God and the world.
