Ahmad ibn ʿAdjība

Sheikh Ahmad ibn ʿAdschība ( Arabic أحمد بن عجيبة, DMG Aḥmad b. ʿAǧība ; born 1747 ; died 1809 ) was a poet, scholar and great Wali from Morocco , a Sufi from the Darqawiyya - Tariqa , a branch of the Schadhiliyya . He was a student of Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Buzidi (d. 1814), who in turn was a student of ad-Darqawi .

He was the author of numerous works, including an important glossary (short: Miʿrādsch ) on the terminology of Sufism . His Two Treatises on Unity of Existence ( Taqyīdāni fī waḥdat al-wuǧūd ) were translated into French ( Deux Traités sur l'Unite de l'Existence ), his autobiography into English (Title of the English translation: Autobiography of a Moroccan Sufi: Ahmad Ibn 'Ajiba ).

In recent times, the French Jean-Louis Michon (1924–2013) has made a name for himself in researching his work.
