Jeanne Cherhal spent her youth in Erbray, near Châteaubriant . The French studied philosophy and then moved to Paris . She began her career as a musician as a pianist and was accompanied by guitarist Éric Löhrer at smaller concerts. In 2002 Cherhal released her self-titled debut album. This was preceded by an EP with six songs, which was also self-titled. The second album, entitled Douze fois par an , was released in 2004 with great success. In late 2005 she starred in the French version of Eve Ensler's vagina monologues . In 2006 the third studio album, L'Eau, followed, followed by a European tour. Jeanne Cherhal also starred in two short films in which she played the lead role.
