The name Jedele comes from the old German personal name Uodalrich from Old High German ôd (al) (genetic material) and rich (powerful, ruler). He is related to the name Ulrich and can best be translated as the ruler of the inherited property . Similar names are Ützle or Jehle .

The Jedeles go back to Jakob Jedelin, born around 1540 in Wolfenhausen (south of Stuttgart - today in Neustetten ). The name is widespread in Germany, Switzerland, France and the USA.
