Yehuda Ben Mose

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jehuda Ben Mose was a Jewish translator, personal physician and astronomer at the court of Alfonso the Wise of Castile and León in the 13th century.

Along with Isaac Ibn Sid, he was the most important figure at the Toledo School of Translation .

Legend has it that he correctly recognized an illness of the Portuguese Crown Prince Dionysius , which the court priests attributed to his employment of Jewish officials, as a blood clot . A successful operation would have prevented the threatened expulsion of the Jews from Spain and Portugal.
