Jens Matthies (born June 29, 1977 in Hamburg ) is a former German soccer player.

Career

He played in the youth of MTV Tostedt and then moved to the then upper division Harburger TB 1865 . In 2000, the second division FC St. Pauli signed him on the recommendation of the ex-player Jens Duve , who also came from the Süderelbe area . Matthies was then also in the 2001/02 Bundesliga squad of FC St. Pauli, but did not play a game. In the following year in the 2nd Bundesliga he played only one game in the jersey of Hamburg. It was only in his fourth year at the Hamburg club that Matthies came into play and was active in 27 games in the Regionalliga Nord . Between 2004 and 2006 he worked for Sportfreunde Siegen . In the summer of 2006 he moved to the Bayern League for SpVgg Weiden , with whom he rose to the Regionalliga Süd in the 2008/09 season . For the 2010/11 season he moved to the district classics TuS Rosenberg to act as a player-coach. He now plays for the regional league team DJKhabenbach. His playing career ended there in the summer of 2016.
