Jepestinja Stepanowa's garden is a song by the singer and songwriter Hannes Wader . It tells the story of a Caucasian Russian woman from Timashevsk , who lost all of her nine sons in the last World War who were killed in action against Hitler's army. Wader was inspired by an article he found in the magazine Soviet Union Today . The song can be found on the 1986 album Liebeslieder . A live version of the title can be found on the album Auftritt: Hannes Wader from 1998.
