Jeremy Wade

Jeremy Wade (born May 5, 1956 in Suffolk , England ) is a British television filmmaker and author of fishing books. He is known for his TV series River Monsters and Jungle Hooks .

Life

Wade has a degree in Zoology of the University of Bristol and studied biology as a teaching post at the University of Kent . He worked intermittently as a biology teacher at secondary schools in Kent .

Wade became known with the TV series River Monster . In doing so, he follows myths and stories about deaths related to attacks by fish in order to scientifically verify them. The goal is mostly to catch the fish as evidence. Wade only uses smooth hooks, i.e. fishhooks without barbs that are easy to remove from the fish. In 1984 he was arrested by the authorities on suspicion of espionage while on a fishing trip on the Mekong in Thailand.
