Jermyn Street
The Jermyn Street is a street in central London , England. It runs parallel to Piccadilly and is known for the shirt manufacturers based there. Jermyn Street is home to shops selling off-the-peg shirts , tailors who make bespoke shirts and men's accessories such as hats and shoes.
Jermyn Street was named after Henry Jermyn, 1st Earl of St Albans (1671–1674). Around 1667 he modernized the entire London district of St. James, including Jermyn Street.
In addition to the shirt manufacturers' shops, the street is also home to the Jermyn Street Theater, which seats around 70 spectators. Perhaps the most famous resident of Jermyn Street was Isaac Newton , who lived here during his time as the Warden of the Royal Mint. The surgeon John Hunter also had his home here. Today the management consultancy McKinsey & Company has its headquarters on Jermyn Street. The Paxton and Whitfield cheese company has had its London headquarters in Jermyn Street since 1835, initially at number 18, and from 1896 to the present day at number 93. Charlton & Co., which was one of the first to sell Earl Gray , also had its headquarters in the 1880s Years their headquarters on Jermyn Street.
