Jesus Juva
Jesu Juva (lat. "Jesus, help"), short form J. J. , appears as a phrase (in text form) immediately at the beginning of some v. a. artistic works of the Middle Ages and the Baroque . The author is professing his Christian faith and asks for divine assistance for the work that he is beginning.
A well-known example is Johann Sebastian Bach , who almost always headed his works with " J. J. ".
