Jewel Cianeh Howard-Taylor (born January 17, 1963 in Liberia ) is a Liberian politician and businesswoman. She was the former first lady and wife of ousted President Charles Taylor . She has been Vice President of Liberia in the Weah government since January 22, 2018 .

Life

The Liberian studied at Cuttington College and has a diploma in banking and two bachelor's degrees in banking and economics.

As the wife of rebel leader Charles Taylor , she became Liberia's “First Lady” after he was elected President. She also appeared as a politician herself and held a number of representative and charitable offices in her husband's government. After President Taylor's forced resignation, Jewel Taylor filed for divorce. After the separation, she successfully continued her political career as a member of the National Patriotic Party of Liberia and ran for elections for the Senate and House of Representatives in Bong County .
