The Jezioro Zygmunta Augusta (German Sigismund-August-See ), also Jezioro Czechowskie ( Czechowiznaer See ) is a reservoir in the Polish Podlaskie Voivodeship . On the southwestern bank of the lake is the village of Czechowizna , the nearest town is Knyszyn , which is about four kilometers south. The lake has an area of 440 to 500 hectares. It was created around 1559, making it one of the oldest artificial lakes in Poland. The reason for the plant is not known. According to a legend, the lake was created by the devil at the behest of the magician Pan Twardowski .
The lake is used to raise carp.
