Jibtop

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The jibtop is a special sail for a sailboat .

The (sometimes the ) jibtop is a headsail . The working area (area in which the sail can be used) lies in a course range from close -hauled courses to downwind courses , i.e. in the area of application between the normal genoa and the spinnaker or gennaker . The jibtop is similar to a genoa, but has a significantly higher clew (about the height of a large tree ), which in the course area around the half wind course ensures a better flow of the main sail and thus a higher boat speed.
