Jijie Chai

Jijie Chai (* 1966 ) is a Chinese structural biologist .

Chai studied chemistry and received his PhD from Peking Union Medical College. As a post-doctoral student , he was at Princeton University in 1999 in the molecular biology department. From 2004 he was at the National Institute of Biological Sciences in Beijing. In 2011 he became a professor at Tsinghua University with a full professorship from 2012. In 2017, Chai received a Humboldt Professorship at the University of Cologne . He is also there at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research.

Among other things, he examined receptors of the immune system with cryo-electron microscopy and is considered an expert in this method.
