Jim Button Foundation

The Jim Button Foundation is a non-profit foundation based in Miesbach , which was founded in 2018 and operates internationally. The work of the foundation focuses on the areas of personality development and education, in keeping with Michael Ende's world of thought . It owes its name to the main character of the first work by Michael Ende, Jim Knopf and Lukas the locomotive driver . Jim Knopf's exemplary character is reflected in the foundation's motto: "Find your way in life & help others".

The foundation was founded by Michael Ende's companions and close supporters of his works and ideas. The Board of Trustees , headed by Chair Eva Hirmer, consists of nine members.

The first action of the organization under the title “Courage to Imagine” has set itself the goal of encouraging people “to use their imagination to shape their own life positively and to bring about an improvement in the world through the strength and joy gained from it. "

The three social partners of the Jim Button Foundation include the non-profit initiative Learning Lions of Ludwig Prince of Bavaria , which Dr. Auma Obama Foundation Sauti Kuu (Foundation) under the direction of Dr. Auma Obama and the international children's aid organization Plan International Germany .

In addition to these partners, the foundation uses its donations to create so-called “centers of fantasy”. The organization understands this to mean facilities in which values, interdisciplinary knowledge and the application of imagination are linked to one another in order to develop one's own person and to shape the economy, society and ecology ethically and sustainably.
