Jimi Berlin

Jimi Berlin , actually Uwe Reinhard (born 1965) is a German musician, singer-songwriter, author and illustrator.

Life

Jimi Berlin has been playing in the indie rock band Herr Berlin since 2012. Jimi Berlin produced the video clips Tante Ursula and Tueren for the band . In 2013 the band released the CD Decoder on the Disentertainment label.

Since the early 1990s Jimi Berlin has been working with various bands and band projects of various styles, for which he writes texts and songs or is significantly involved in the songs. In 1992 he played as a singer and bassist in the psychedelic retro rock band Flaming Toasters. After the CD The New Funkadelik Habit and numerous appearances in 1995, the band went over to the German rock band “5 im green bed”, which won the 1996 “Rookie-of-the-Year” award from the then SWR 3 . The song Auf den Sternen goes into the top ten of the SWF 3 listener charts. The band was signed by Public Propaganda, went on tour with the Stranglers and produced a few songs for Virgin Records with producer Georg Kalewe without being released. The CDs Oszillator (recorded by SL Coe) and The Meaning of Sex were produced (recorded and mixed by Steff Jungs and Norbert Maes) and published in-house. In 1998 the band separated.

With the band's drummer, Steff Jungs, Jimi Berlin continued to work in a duo and later with the bassist Stefan Scheib , including the Liquid Penguin Ensemble , and Rashawon Johnson in a trio. Four CDs resulted from this collaboration. Jimi Berlin also drew and produced the tattoo machine video clip for the band .

With Steff Jungs, Jimi Berlin also developed cross-genre projects, such as For example, the concert series “10 short films, 10 short songs”, in which the duo alternated between performing selected short films.

In 2008, he and Christian Jöricke (16vor, Titanic) presented the reading show Monsters of Vorlesen , which is still performed sporadically today. From 2002 to 2009 Jimi Berlin worked as a columnist for the internet magazine Hundredtausend.de . Some of his columns and short stories as well as cartoons that appeared there were published as a paperback under the title The Fat in the Eye of the Beholder in 2006 by Addita Verlag. Since 2009, Jimi Berlin has been drawing cartoons for the internet magazine 16 , which are published at irregular intervals.

In 2008 he founded with keyboardist Daniel Suess yourself and the DJ , drummer and percussionist Flextronic (909 Roland) electro clash band KomputerKomputer . For the band he produced the video clip for the song of the same name, headphones .

As a side project, Jimi Berlin has played drums in the Ramones tribute band The Moranes from 2008 to date.

Since 2009 he has performed solo with the program It's okay when it's bleeding . In spring 2012 the video Valentinstag by the band LOVE A appeared, in which Jimi Berlin was an actor.

Since 2013 Jimi Berlin has been publishing absurd stories about the sock hand puppet Doris in the blog alleswegendoris .
