history

Shiluv (שִׁלּוּב)

On February 23, 1999, shortly before the Knesset elections in 1999, Michael Nudelman and Yuri Stern left the Jisra'el ba-Alija party, founded by Natan Sharansky , to found a new party. Nudelman suggested that the party name Shiluv (שִׁלּוּב, Migration ). However, the proposal was not approved.

Aliyah: Amenu Lema'an Yisrael Ha-Mitchadeschet (עַמֵּנוּ לְמַעַן ישראל הַמִּתְחַדֶּשֶׁת)

The proposal to name the party Aliyah later met with broad approval. The party later allied with another Russian-born migrant party - Jisra'el Beitenu . Aliyah (עלי"ה, Migration ) goes back to the acronym for Amenu Le-Ma'an Jisra'el ha-Mitchadeschet , namely:עַמֵּנוּ לְמַעַן ישראל הַמִּתְחַדֶּשֶׁת We are the people for a renewed Israel and consists of the following initials of:

  • A menu ( Hebrew עַמֵּנוּ)
  • L ema'an (לְמַעַן)
  • Ji Israel (יִשְׂרָאֵל)
  • H a-Mitchadeschet (הַמִּתְחַדֶּשֶׁת)

Yisra'el ha-Mitchadeshet (יִשְׂרָאֵל הַמִּתְחַדֶּשֶׁת)

It was then shortened to Yisra'el ha-Mitchadeshet and ran in the 2009 elections with Nudelman as chairman.
