João Correia de Oliveira

João Correia de Oliveira (* 1881 in São Pedro do Sul , Portugal ; † 1960 in Esposende , Portugal) was a Portuguese playwright. He was the brother of António Correia de Oliveira , in whose shadow he was always standing.

Live and act

João Correia de Oliveira was born in São Pedro de Sul. He worked for magazines all his life, from 1915 to 1926 he was literary director of the magazine "Contemporanea". He also worked as a translator. He could not achieve such great prominence because of the oversized shadow cast by his famous brother, but he was valued as a playwright. Under the pseudonyms João da Beira and João Norte, he wrote for various magazines, including A Arte . Most of the magazines he wrote for were local or nationalistic. He also wrote for magazines such as Ave Azul and Seroes .
